Origins Awards 2008
Why is it so hard to find information on Origin nominees where you would expect it? Every year it seems like to see the list you have to go to some site reporting it as news rather than direct from the source. This year is no different.
You can find the list of semi-finalists here. Typical list of products that you’ve heard about and are worthy (Saganami Island Tactical Simulator, Delta Green, Last Night On Earth, and others) and a whole lot that will make you go ‘hunh’.
For giggles when the winners are announced be sure to compare how many of them also just happen to be sponsors of Origins…
Looks like that may be tough this year unless they quickly pick up some more sponsors. So far I can only find four sponsors listed, Mayfair Games, Pokemon, McNeill Designs and the Hyatt. And where’s the computer games category they promised for this year???

I do commend them for offering a lower tier, “fair only” badge this year. “A Fair-Only Pass entitles you to explore the Exhibit Hall, the Art Show and the demonstration booths lining the main corridor. The cost for the Fair-Only Day Pass is $3 per person or $10 for a family of 4 or more. These passes will only be available for purchase at the show and only on Saturday and Sunday in the form of a bracelet. Keep your Saturday bracelet on for readmission on Sunday.” This should drive more shoppers to the exhibit hall and hopefully bring it back to life.
